No more than 8x and 1-6 x is ideal. It gets drug through soaking wet brush and all shots will be close. Less than 50 yds. and some 5 yds or less. Lighted reticle preferred because its usually fairly dark. Lens is going to be wet but must be able to see through it. I currently have a Burris 1-6 and its not cutting it. Any recommendations are appreciated. Or a liquid I can put on the lens to help.

Bushnell R5 1-6 has exo barrier, supposedly an improved version of Rainguard. I know that some of the Zeiss and GPO riflescopes have a rain barrier as well, but you'd have to research to see which ones. Might start looking at red dot sights or prism sights too.

An old school Bushnell 4200 1.25x4. They had the best coating. Zeiss do pretty well in foggy conditions. So far my Leica Amplus has not fogged. Only a day of foggy weather.

I had to go from open sights to a scope. Also tried red dots but not what I needed. Will go back to open only if I can’t find a functional scope.

How often are you needing to use your scope on any given hunt?

Bikini caps, specifically the rubber butler creek ones keep rain off the glass 100% of the time they get used. You pull them off and line up the shot. I have actually been using a 3D printed set of caps that have been pretty effective. IMG_0499.jpeg

But once they’re off, it’s a crap shoot to keep them from condensating.

I actually have a set of bikini caps I just put on yesterday but in some applications I need them off then have to wade through wet shit another distance before shooting. Probably going back to peeps because that scope is almost worthless once the glass is wet.

Have you tried flip up style caps like the butler creek or Leupold alumina?

They work fairly well for me but I may not be dealing with the same levels of wet

My experience has been that they work great until they suddenly don’t. I used alumina caps for a few years. I distinctly remember having an inch of standing water on the objective during one hunt after carrying slung on shoulder. If the op hunts the rain, I’m sure he will start to have problems with them pretty quickly.
RainX works
I’ll have to try this too.
