Nebraska Muzzleloader season

Hello All,

I am heading to Nebraska the first week of December. I will be hunting public ground in the NW corner for a week. I would like to harvest a mule deer however would be happy with a whitetail as well.

My question: What is the best type of terrain to focus on in early December? (Timber, Sand Hills, Brush, Ravines, Ag fields borders if possible?)
 
We have hunted NW Nebraska the last two years. Privet ground, but the same things still apply. We intercept them mornings and evenings traveling between river cover and ag fields.
 
Anything bordering ag fields will likely be your best option in December. Check the public lands atlas for any CRP as well. I tend to find groups of them bedded in CRP near ag fields where the cover is a little taller.
 
A good cold front or big drop in temperature will push them towards corn fields to feed. As mentioned above, ground with good cover close to ag fields would be a good spot for them to bed down during the day.

I would focus on the timber and riparian areas near ag fields, especially corn.
