I know it's a tough draw for a NR, but before I start putting in for it I'd like to get an idea of where I'm going to go.

Does anyone know of any land owners I can pay a trespass fee or of any ranches that let you DIY or semi-guided? Willing to pay a fair amount, just not an outrageous amount.. I'm a little too far away to knock on doors lol. Looking at probably using the muzzleloader as well

Just out of curiosity, did you ever have any luck with access on this a few years ago? I have a whitetail tag I am going to take the 11 year old boy on and looking for advice.

With a whitetail tag, what type of deer are you looking for? Just a hunt, a mature animal, a trophy, etc? You hunting rifle or muzzleloader? Have you been to the area before?

Not trophy hunting at all. It is honestly just a hunt for us. Basically a good time for the boys and me. We are hunting the rifle and no we have never been there before. We are just looking to get the little kiddos some experience in an out of state hunt. Does, yearling bucks, it doesnt matter. Nebraska just does such a good job supporting youth hunting that we are coming all the way from utah to make a trip of it.

PM me some more details of your plans, where you're planning on staying/hunting, public vs private, etc. I grew up in Southwest Nebraska and still go back to hunt there regularly. Depending on where you're considering I might be able to provide some insight.

I understand the laughing will commence shortly but I have no idea how to PM on this forum. But I am grateful that you will take the time to help in anyway that you can. We are planning on staying in and around Ogallala/north platte. We will need to drive a bit everyday to get down to the unit but thats all part of the fun when hunting out of state. Every road is a new road to us. We will hunt whatever and whoever lets us so if we only get to hunt public then so be it, if we happen to get some permission to hunt private then we will do that as well. We are from utah so walking and hiking is the norm and putting on miles is nothing new. We are a mostly public land state so you have to walk if you want to find anything. We want to respect the locals and their hunts so we dont mind going to the less than great areas. We are more concerned about having some experiences with the 11 year old boys, etc. Filling the tag will not make or break the trip for us. But getting in to some deer will be fun for them.

Oh, they'll have some experiences.

Mostly with the blaze orange army.

If you see a deer, drop everything and race to town for powerball tickets, cause your luck is running high.
Hahaha. Thats funny. But I think you should come hunt in Utah for one opener and then talk about the blaze orange army. You would be shocked. Orange ants all over the mountain! So maybe the kids will feel right at home! haha
