NCAA Wrestling 2026

They really need to implement the step out rule in folk style. The officials won't call stalling, then when they do it is inexplicable

Holy smokes, how good is this freshmen class!? Duke beat a 4x d1 champ to make the world team and then loses to another freshman? 133: all semi finalist are freshmen and the returning champ got majored in the quarters. Insane

Forrest at 133 isn't even a true freshman, he's an early enrolled, technically he could be wrestling in the High School state championship!

This is true, but the kid is 19 yrs old. I'm sure there are quite a few 19yr olds wrestling at NCAAs. For perspective, Levi is 21 yrs old and a senior.

Ah, so the old "hockey" red shirt in jr high that has found its way into wrestling.

Yea, thats been going on for awhile here in PA. Covid really helped that along too, as some parents just said "NO" to the mask or online learning.

Daton was eligible for Social Security his last season!!

SVN stalking? Fake news.

PJ got F’d. Pretty bad

I’m glad they got it right w Davino vs Blaze. The right kid won that match.

I still might take Trumble over Yonger

Duke got the shaft.

This and honestly not sure how they could have fixed it. In that situation if there is even any doubt the refs need to let it to continue to play out. Duke had him locked up in a cradle and at the very least would have proved without a doubt that he had control. The refs dictated the end of that match. Duke had every opportunity to shut the door, but I believe he was mentally defeated after that call was reversed. I also haven’t seen PSU coaches as hot after a match in a very long time.

On another note when the refs didn’t award Davino that take down after review I was left scratching my head. Some of these close ones I really question if anyone knows what a take down is any more and thankfully the right kid won.

This issue had somewhat of a starting point in 2012 finals. Jordan Oliver vs Logan Steiber.
Rules have been tweaked but over time you get guys like Hardy, Vega or the Larkins who seem to be terribly out of position but somehow come out on top. So what is "control"? Then throw in "reaction time" and it's a cluster even with a good official.

Officiating has been bad the entire tournament. Stalling, no stalling. Kids pulling themselves off from center no calls. Most of the rules are in place to prevent a lot of this the officials just don't call them consistently and correctly. Putting the step out rule in would solve most of the TD issues.

I hate reaction time. It shouldn't be reviewable. It is a judgement call made during live action. The official called what he saw, that's why he's there. Why no reaction time when you get behind their hands hit for less than a second, they are back up and get free, that is reaction time, control was never established. Bad rule that should be removed.

Get rid of the bricks. Most calls don't get overturned even if they do there is no less controversy. It was supposed to help, it hasn't. It interrupts the flow of match. It allows a coach to give a kid a break if they need it.

Refine the rules and ensure the officials call them as written.

Let's here the finals predictions.

125 -Lilledahl
133 -Jax
141 -Vega, tough call but after Oklahoma's performance in the semis I'm leaning toward that momentum in the finals.
149 -SVN
157 -Robideau
165 -Mesenbrink (Hodge winner also?)
174 -Haines
184 -Rocco
197 -Barr
hwt -Bastida

30 minutes out....I agree with Schuh's calls save 141.....will be interesting. Will not be a blow out. I'll taken Mendez if only for the Mat Savvy exp and Horse Power.

Only sarcasm, but maybe Jax and Vega ask Santa for Muscles this Xmas?

Rocco's TB2 record is probably in the 90% range. Wish it wasn't so. Would like to see a "real" match.

Max seems like a nice kid. Speaks well. Enjoy'd his Semi walk off interview re: Ferarri's knee wrestling ......"that's Stalling, right"? I agree.

Did the bigger Ferarri come back for a medal or walk home with his ball and little brother? I watched several medal matches early this morning. Didn't see him.

Did watch Marcus get dominated. He would not have been a Champ this year regardless of calls or seeds. He's really good. But in that crew he's about where he stacks up....4th.
