Davis v Hardy might be good.
Braeden looked composed today.

I think Hardy takes Vega in Gumby-fest III

133 and 157 will get interesting tomorrow.
 
The Hardy/Davis match worries me. Davis was absolutely handling him in the dual until Hardy pinned him in a scramble. Davis won't get caught again. He's one guy I didn't want to see in Hardy's path. With Manning's teams propensity to underperform on the big stage, and PSU being the exact opposite, that could be the upset of the tournament.

Not sure on the team trophy. Other than last year NU has badly underperformed at Nationals. Hopefully we end up top 4. I can see VanDee, Araujo, Lamar, McDanel, and Allred not placing. Lauridsen may win 1. Rest of them will need to outwrestle their seeds to stay in the top 4.
 
I was high on Araujo. He's annoying to watch warm up ie....let's pace in front of the entire arena starting at 125. But I thought he was scrappy. That was a schitty loss. I'd bet he scraps a bit on the backside.

Minto w TF? Looks good. But I bet Levi figures out anti crotch lock methods this week. Think he was in on 3 solid shots on Minto at B10s.

Pinto went down 1st round.

Davis implodes and Hardy major's at minimum. Davis was 2-0 over a scrub!

LJ is from our town. We were pulling for him but it didn't work out. Some shocked parents at the gym tonight for my kids' youth wrestling practice.

looked like he had cinder blocks tied to his ankles. u never know if it was sickness, weight cut, just a bad day, etc.
the funny thing i think about seedings though at this tournament is they really dont mean a lot with how tough the competition is.
the media/flo/espn is going to talk "upsets" but in the scheme of things are they really?
 
hawks had a good day but Today could be interesting... they have their hands full. could potentially only have 1 in the semis
 
I’d say Wask over Ruiz is an upset. Never saw Ruiz all season. But he was labeled a potential Levi Killer

Cotton over Elam an upset. Cotton gave Barr his best match this season…but I believe they grew up as partners in the same room?

Davino, Jax and Seidel show no chinks. I can’t reasonably pick Marcus among that group. Byrd going down for certain today

ESPN Matcast (all 8 mats, no commercials) with sound muted has been perfect here. If you are serious about the NCAA wrestling tournament you have to go ESPN+

Undefeated and 4x AA makes it tough to argue a #2 for Elam.
I was actually wondering if Cotton's seed wasn't the mistake
 
I watched about half of it on Matcast last night, it was great!! I had some things to do so came back to finish and I hadn't recorded it on +. Had to watch the ESPN version for the second half. It is absolutely horrible. There were a couple segments that were nothing but the announcers talking while there was a challenge. Never switched to another match and finally went to commercial break.
 
I'm still high on the Larkins. They've had some interesting vlogs and content for years. Just grinding in out and seeking out older, better competition. In many ways it feels like they've "Arrived". But they've probably been here a long time. I thought they were just scrappy desert kids.

Google shows they come from Hodge stock......go figure.
 
Kyler might be on the outside of that elite group at 133. Experiencing the Jax spin cycle in the Big 12 final took him down a notch.
Kaleb is a freak athlete. As much as I want Robideau to advance I want to see Larkin's crazy style vs Duke.
 
PSU going to have 6 champs. 8 isn't out of the question. If Lillidahl gets by Spratly he'll win it. Everyone at 149 has gotten beat, Van Ness can stall his way to that title. He should have been dinged for pts in the semis. I don't think Blaze can get through both Devino and Forrest.

PJ is going to bonus his way through. Just on another level.

Iowa is in a real good spot to finish with a trophy. Outwrestling their seeds all over the place and have favorable matchups in the blood round.

2nd-4th is going to get real intersting after this round.
