REI has the TF 50 on sale for $200. Sweet deal and I couldn’t resist picking one up myself. The pack isn’t in their hunting line but it similar and weight rated for at least 140 pounds.

I just saw that. I was thinking about picking one up for my dad. Did you get yours? And if so can you tell me about it? Do you have one of mystery ranch’s hunting line of packs to compare it to. I have a sawtooth 45

I grabbed one. I really like it so far. I guess the frame is very similar to the old ones (2019) on the hunting packs. Same weight capacity of well more than I would want to carry. Killer deal.

I put mine in one of the side pockets then use the side compression straps to hold it. Then offset the weight by placing all my food on the other side of the pack. When I get to where I am hunting though I hand carry my gun the entire time.

Thanks. And I’m sure back middle is also an option?

For sure but I like the weight as close to my body as I can get it.

Sounds good. Overload shelf I guess too. Lots of options. Yeah the thing does not have a ton of pockets. Haha The price is right though and the quality seems very solid.

I really like limited pockets. I added to forager pockets to the belt and with a chest harness all I need. I rarely need anything out of main pocket during the day.

Thanks for the information. I just burnt my REI points to get the pack as a backup at $35 out the door.

I ordered the Terraframe 80 last week when it was on sale for $225 or so (it’s not anymore I guess). Got it the other day and I really like it so far.

Is it the guidelines frame?

I’m not exactly sure, I’m not super familiar with all of the MR frames. I think the 80 that I got is the older model. REI is showing it as no longer available and it is a little bit different than the other 80 that they have for sale. DA3C411E-C638-40B1-8321-E9AD4A351088.jpeg

I do the same, and honestly I have found those two side pockets to be good for nothing else. I tried putting the rifle on the back of the pack but did not like having that much weight that far from my body.

Its similar to the Selway. I have one of them and think it is pretty bomb proof if you like no pockets.
Do you have the Selway or the Terraframe. My Selway is pretty close to bombproof. It cartwheeled about 1200 feet packed with 60 lbs down an avalanche shoot in Idaho. Ended up with one very small spot of abrasion and my coffee spilled out.

I like some external access so I don't have to continually drop my pack on the trail. I bought a lid and attached it to my Selway. It gives me external access and adds 900 ci to the pack. I can pack a week into my Selway now.

Looking at the Mystery Ranch site it appears the TF-50 is on the Guide Light MT frame, which is the same as the Selway. The TF-50 is a little smaller. It has a capacity of 3,051 ci while the Selway has 3.783. If you attach a day pack lid you can bring the capacity up to 3951 ci. The material, straps, buckles, and zippers used in construction are identical. The two pockets on the Selway have zippers, while those on the TF-50 have elastic and are listed as water bottle pockets. Both packs are listed at 5 lbs. So basically the TF-50 with the overload shelf is a bombproof 1-3 day pack you can use to get in and get your game out. All that for $200.00.
