So I am finally ready to pull the trigger on my first real pack and I was pretty set on an Exo k2 either a 2000 or 3500 and was gonna wait till the new fusion pattern came out. Now the question? Black Ovis has the mystery ranch pintler pack in multicam for 30 percent off. So is the Exo worth the extra money compared to the pintler? The pack will be used for day hunting on the east coast and in Hawaii and maybe an elk hunt if the bank account allows. Thanks for any and all input.

I dont know the Exo but I have a pintler along with some other mystery ranch packs. The pintler is a grea t pack and the guidleight carries well. I have taken a few hikes with mine now and it feels like it hauls as well as my Nice frame and to me better than my 22 inch Kifaru.

I have been playing around with packs of the roll you describe - basically a Day pack of ~40 liters that can haul meat or a camp bag. I started with an mr crew cab. Last season I used a woodsman which I liked the bag better but not how the frame carried. I bought the pintler to try it out as a replacement for the woodsman and I like it so far. Super light but it handles a load well. I haven’t put anything but a sand bag on the shelf but it works great for hauling a load.

I have a pair of guild lite frames with a pintler and metcalf. I haven’t played with any recent versions of the Exo so I can’t comment on them, however they are very well spoken of.
Now just my two cents. The pintler and guild Lite frame new at 30% off is a Steal. It a great pack, carry’s very well locks in very well and feels great under a load. The bag lay out on the Pinter is super for day hunts. I used my to pack a few caribou last fall and it was excellent. With MR starting to release separate bags as well I can’t see you getting hurt buying this at that price. Good luck

Can’t speak for the MR but my Exo 2000 was huge for me last year. Knocked a bull down a few miles back while my hunting partner (wife) took the morning off to catch up on some sleep and rest her legs. The ability to get a hind quarter out on the first trip meant we could get the rest out in one more. A daypack that “comfortably” hauls half a bone in bull actually changed the way I hunt. Impatiently waiting to add a 5500 to the same frame. They’ve got their system dialed in.

I have both of these packs used my k2 to pack out my bull this year and the pintler to pack out my deer, 30% off for the pintler is a steal, both bags come off frame easy, but I think the exo is a little bit more comfortable to me can't go wrong with either

There's no absolute right/wrong here as both companies build fine packs. I'll keep my response very simple. I would buy the Pintler while on sale. If it doesn't suit you return it. If it does...you save serious money.

I've had a number of highly regarded packs over many years. It might interest you that I've hunted Hawaii multiple times and I go to Alaska every single year. My hands-down no-question all-in best pack ever is my Pintler.

Thank you Kevin, just ordered the pintler.
