Was looking for a day pack for hunting with a load option and bought one of these off campfire. I own a exo 5500 that i love, and have recently put together a kifaru reckoning to try on my elk hunt next year. Used the pintler for day hunts as well as a moose hunt in Alberta this year and have to say that I’m really impressed with the pack for what I use it for. Anyone else use one and like it? Was looking at the exo 2200, kifaru models, etc and am glad i went with this. Though I’m certain the others are probably a little bit better but happy so far and for half the price. I’m lazy to be honest and do not like switching packs to the same frame so went with a pack for each option.

What about the pintler makes you think the others must be better?

I’ve got one too by the way. I’m happy with it also

You can not go wrong with any Mystery Ranch product. I have a Guide Lite Pintler and a Nice Metcalf. Both are great and pack well with heavy loads. MR is pretty much bombproof as they are very well built. They may be a bit heavier on the empty end. But when you have a load that little bit of heavy built product sits well for me. You still feel a heavy load but it is more comfortable.

3 Way zip on the Pintler I really like. I wish the Metcalf came with that option.

Love the pintler! Handled a huge elk hind quarter with no problem , also packed out half a muley in the shelf , and a perfect day pack , I found a guide lid that I also use with , great combo

the Pintler!!?

i'm still rocking great-great granddad to the Pintler. the DragonSlayer. i dont know for sure, up against the new fangled kool-aid drinker brands, that might or might not be lighter empty. but i'm a lazy hunter. i dont know how many times i have put my DragonSlayer into the ground and simply sat on it to glass. last year, i sat for TWO hours on my pack, behind my spotting scope. my job was to keep an eye on a buck and give hand signals. the buck was delicious.

the ground was nothing but tiny spikey cactus in sharp shale ground. sitting on it even with my pad was not an option. not for two hours. i'll pay some weight penalty for that type of burley material. i love the thing. this year, i put it into the mud and sat on it. wow..washing it was an eyeopener. i bet my mom gets some mystery weeds this upcoming spring. i brought back a ton of crap. :)

Just finished my second session with the Pintler and absolutely love it. I can get about 3 days worth into it before I use the load shelf. Think I'll grab a Marshall this offseason to pair with it but I love the way it packs down for day hunting

I really put the frame to the test this year when I packed out 79# of boned out cow elk meat (half the animal) along with my gear and rifle for 4 miles. No matter what, that kind of weight sucks but the frame carried it well.

It a terrible picture but attached is a field dressed antelope bundled up in the meat sling Adam (pods) made for me. I carried 2 of them back to the truck like this for skinning. Pretty awesome!
