Been thinking of picking up a used n.i.c.e. frame with no accessories. My question is can i find enough parts to build this pack up, dont ever see much for sale for these frames. Is this frame even worth the time or money? Does mystery ranch still carry parts for these ( load shelf, bags, etc.) Any info greatly appreciated.

I am a big mr fan. Nice is discontinued. eBay and swap meet are your friends. No more new production that I know of.

NICE frame is still being made for the military line. You can order the frame and military bags separately still I believe but you would have to contact them to do so. OV Innovations has nice aftermarket accessories. Your best bet is to call MR directly and talk to them.

I picked one up and added a cheap surplus filbe pack. Great setup for the money I have into it. Very comfortable, but I would like to add the ov innovations stuff to it. Only thing I liked better about my kifaru MMR was the higher lifters. This is a very good frame though.

You can run an alice pack, filbe, mystery ranch or other packs on it. You can also setup hill people gear pockets as compression panel or use it like an overload setup.

Bags are supposed to interchange between the new and old frame generally. MR doesn't piece meal packs like others but used/have someone see something are options.

Thanks everyone for the info, does any one know if its possible to run kuiu ultra lite bags on the nice frames?

I don't think so. MR bags attach with 1 large pocket at the top of the bag, while the kuiu ones sit on top of the frame using 2 small pockets the vertical stays fit in to. Maybe you could rig some kind of strapped attachment, but I don't think it would work all that well.

Here is a frame picture for reference and also the back panel on a daypack I made. The main attachment points are the top frame sleeve and the ladderloc buckles on the outside edge near the bottom that connect into a frame strap just above the waist belt (they are on the user side of the frame so hard to see in this photo). There also is the lower buckles in the middle of the back panel but honestly I don't think those do much when its on the frame and is more so when there is a load between. Obviously the side compression straps pull the pack into the frame too but it's mainly the slot and ladderloc in my mind that attach the pack.

(Those straps at the top are something I added to run up to the load lifters when the pack is divorced from the frame, not normally used so disregard those.)

Very nice work, thanks for the info.

If you are looking to score a deal on a MR pack, they have a big warehouse sale every year here in Bozeman. I don't know the details but you could give them a call

Jimmys tarp builds some nice looking bags for the MR frames .....right around $100 I believe

False. NICE is not and will not be discontinued. It's the backbone of MR and they have 5 U.S. Manufacturing facility's makes parts for the NICE frame as they have more military and government contracts than any other pack maker. You can still buy nice frame packs and gear on the MR website. The only thing that changed is in the hunting line you now have a guide light frame option which is a scaled down re done NICE that is lighter weight. Big NICE frame fan.

MR said they are hoping to offer packs/frame seperate once they get all caught up on orders and work through this guide light over sea's @&!: show they have going.

You guys are clearly better informed than me. Where does one go to buy just a NICE frame? How do you buy bags separate? Seems like they are only offering as a package.

Like I said above, mystery ranch is not selling pack frames and packs seperate at this time. When I spoke with them on several occasions, they said they hope to be selling them seperate once everything gets worked out/caught up with the over sea's disaster they started with the guide light frame. NICE frames pop up all the time, I just had one listed but no biters so I moved it over to EBAY. All new and old packs will fit either the NICE frame or the new hunting frame. All military packs on the site our sold on the NICE frame.

Also, everything with the NICE set up (military, fire, expedition line) is made in the USA, the hunting line is all made over sea's.
