I have a Mystery ranch Military Lightweight Frame that I really like, but the bags they sell with that frame are not ideal for backcountry hunting use. Has anyone had any luck mounting a Kifaru, Stone Glacier, or other more lightweight bag onto one of these frames? It seems the MLF and NICE frames are ALICE compatible, but most of the hunting brand bags are not from what I can tell. I am looking to save a little weight, the MR military bags are very robust but a bit overkill for my needs.

Does your frame look like this?

Do the Mystery Ranch hunting bags not work for your purpose? Like the Metcalf or the Pintler or the Mule?
Do they fit on this frame? I was hoping to avoid buying a whole new pack as I really like this frame. I think I assumed they weren’t compatible.

If someone has one and they could measure the size of the top sleeve that would be the important part, the rest could be done with repair buckles.

I mean bags only. Use your frame but buy a Mystery Ranch bag that will suit your purpose.

Problem with Kifaru: most of them slide over the top of the frame, geometry is different. May work. Risky.

Problem with Exo K4 bags: they are intended to slip over the ends of the two vertical stays.

Problem with SG: the multi day packs also slip over the ends of the frame stays. They can be used without this tho, like when packing meat. Could be an option.

Thanks! This is probably the best option. Do you know if all their bags fit this frame or just some? I see they’re now touting a “mysterium” frame.

The pack I have actually fits over the stays as well, but I imagine the distance between stays me be different between brands. https://www.mysteryranch.com/blackjack-80-pack

Thanks for all the help
