Mystery ranch CC...advice

I've had both the CC and Metcalf Gen 2. I liked the Metcalf better as I do a lot of bivy hunts and it worked fine as a day pack. It can hold a lot and pack alot of weight. I ultimately just switched to an EXO for two reasons...one was the weight. I cover a ton of ground..lighter is faster and doesn't wear me out as bad. The MR is like 10 lbs with a lift kit and dry..crazy. The other is MR pissed me off when they stopped the ala carte bag buying. Meaning I couldn't just buy the lighter frame now...not sure why but it just rubbed me wrong..as for the packs the only neg I'll ever say about MR is the weight...other then that their awesome packs..they are battle tested..and I've seen it first hand..

Have you use the Metcalf in a week long hunt by chance or packed some heavy loads with it? Overall though sounds like you're happy with it.
It depends how you pack, but doing a week out of the Metcalf is no problem. With the lift kit the nice frame carries weight extremely well. You pay for that in weight. I haven't seen the new frame in person yet, should be interesting.

One thing I've noticed running the SG pack is that third compression strap on each side really helps cinch the weight down well. I'm not sure why they reduced the area of the pack the compression straps cover on the sides on the new metcalf....but it seems like that would reduce their utility a bit.
