I thought you guys might like to see the web my buck built in his left antler this year. I asked the farmer that lets me hunt his land if he was trying to tie them up for me.

Congratulations ! Is the wire just wrapped around the antler or is it grown in ?

It's wrapped around. Looks to be post velvet.
He has it tied up pretty good. There is a 4' tag end that was running along his head, neck and shoulder. It was formed fairly tight to his body. I presume from running through grass and brush.

This pic is how he died. It shows the wire running along his side.

Nice buck. Glad he did not get tangled in the fence and stuck there.

It's crazy how often I catch my feet on an old fence that has fell to the ground only to be grown over by the grass. KS has a lot of toppled fences.
Not nearly as hard on the deer as the "hog fences" type. The 6"-8" square fencing. I see deer trapped in them every year. I have only been able to save one before the coyotes found her. Usually all you find is a hind leg stuck in the top two rows of wire.

I can't count the times I've had to untangle wire from around my drive shaft! I don't need too much detail, but what part of the state did you hunt if you don't mind me asking?
