My first mule deer

I just wanted to share some photos from my arizona desert mule deer hunt this year. I have been hunting out there for deer the past 3 years and I finally connected on this buck. After a few close calls I made a 20 yard shot pass through with my bow and he went 40 yards. This is my first western deer with my bow and i have been trying real hard for a long time. A experience and memory that will live on forever in my mind.

Very nice!

3 years and then this guy. I'd say you made the right call to keep at it. That buck is worth 3 seasons of hunting.

What's with the horseshoe?
Thank you very much, I found it as I moved in the glass him closer and thought it was pretty lucky so I stuck it on my pack. Decided to call him the horse shoe buck. My last two lucky rocks I had found from the week prior just weren't cutting it.

Well done man and a great buck to boot! Very cool find on the horseshoe too. Who knows how long that has been lying out there and who/how it got left there... I love that stuff.

Me too, my mind wanders as walk out around. Wondering of there's any chance that I'm the first person to sit in this spot or walk over this hill here, slim chances but it fun to entertain my thoughts.

Heck of a buck, been going to Az myself the last 3 years. Unit I was in closed for mule deer 3 days after we got there. Managed to take my first Coues that week. Thanks for sharing!

Congrats!! I just got my first mule deer ever in AZ with a bow as well after 2 years of working at it. Such an incredible feeling.

Reading your post, the 1st thing that came to my mind, was that buck was worth the wait. But obviously I am not the only one that felt that way. Congratulations!
