I've never understood how guys get scores on 5 point bulls. The score sheets/methodologies do not really contemplate scoring 5 point elk. Just gets wishy washy scoring 5s. Even monster 5s.

Congrats on your bull!

Confrats on the nice bull! Score ot up when you get it back. Itll probably be a nice reality check on how big a 300 inch bull is lol. My first bull was similiar to yours i thought he was 270 ish, he was really a 230 5x6. It didnt matter to me but it made me realize and respect how big a 300” bull really is. But congrats again its exciting getting your first one back!

thanks that helps I agree with never really seeing a 300 in person. makes it hard to gauge.

Congrats! Dang nice bull. I don’t have anything like that but I have a few trophy’s. Leave the score alone and never worry about it. A memory is worth more than a point.

put a tape on him and figure out where you're at score wise! I have been surprised by scoring my bulls to learn that even a decent 6x6 can still barely break the 270" range. congrats on your bull score is nothing more than a number!

You're probably a little high but still a nice bull and one I wouldn’t hesitate killing. For reference the bull in my avatar officially scored 266" net, 274 gross and he’s got 16” eye guards, is a little heavier than yours, and probably wider. My brother in laws grossed 286 and netted 276”. I would put yours in the 240-50 range if I were to guess.

But…as others have said you shouldn’t care. When I say a nice bull I mean somewhere in the size of yours up to bigger than mine. Big bull category I say north of 300 when talking to buddies. I know I’m glad I got mine mounted and so will you!

Score means nothing.
The question is, "When you see that mount, do you remember a great hunt and do you smile?"
Nice mount and a great elk.
Wisdom here, and tact. Do yourself a favor and read this until it makes sense--put away your tape it won't add anything to an otherwise beautiful animal and excellent reminder of your hunt. A tape measure has never added to any of the elk on my walls.
