I'm bored , setting at home with my shoulder out of whack , MRI later today , but it's bad .

Back story , early 1970's Chevrolet manufacturing down in the hole , Flint Mi. My dad was the union rep for skilled trades division and the Vietnam vets coming back to work were having trouble re-assimilating to state side and working .
One guy , I'm not sure but I think his name was Vaughn , was having trouble with a foreman being a bully . It was bad , the guy was ready to quit .
My dad got involved and got the guy transferred away from the presses , the loud booms were triggering him , he would freeze up .

So to repay my dad the guy made this knife , out of a file was the story I got . Dad wasn't a hunter so he gave it to me in 75 or 76 , not sure . I've never used it and it's still sharp .
Dads been gone a while and this is all I have of his , just thought I'd share it to see what you guys thought about it ?

That's a pretty cool knife and a great story!

As a fellow hunter who's just starting to have shoulder problems, I wish you the best in getting it resolved fast!! I'm in the it needs to get worse before they can do anything phase.

Nice knife with a neat backstory. Do you plan to keep it as is or are you thinking about a knife restoration project? Just curious?

Regardless, the keepsakes I have of my dad's are pretty invaluable to me, as is that knife to you, I'm sure.

I'm not sure , like my shoulder I'm torn about it (YUK YUK ) . I can't remember what it looked like back then , if it was shiny or not , I put it in an old sheaf and left it .
I kind of like the way it looks now . Might make a frame for it and hang it on a wall .

I agree on the shadow box- that would look pretty cool. I have a large case for a couple of fishing rods my dad made- mirrored back, beautiful oak case. It displays his rods really nicely and I think it's pretty dang cool.

That's awesome. I think I would use it for hunting. It would be like taking him with in a way. My shoulder is really jacked up too. I'm scheduling surgery in January. I'm really hoping I'll be able to shoot my bow again this fall. Hopefully you will too God willing.

I also have an old knife that was my dad’s. I used it for many years of hunting. It’s now retired.

I like the shadow box idea. Use it some first. That will add to the memories.
