I'm pretty happy with my "breakfast oats" that fuel me for the fall so just wanted to share my recipe. I mix these in batches of about 10 bags at a time and the ingredients are super cheap. Lots of flexibility to adjust for taste. Back when I counted it up I think this has about 600-700 calories. I make in plastic bags, add cold water and let it sit for 10min, softens up well. T=tablespoon

1 cup large flake oats
3T powdered milk
2T powdered peanut butter
1T brown sugar
2T chopped pecan
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1/2 cup cranberries (or dried fruit of choice)
Spice to taste (I use cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric)

The powdered peanut butter is great for me in the backcountry. It's just a little sprinkling but adds calories, fat and protein and a nice nutty flavor. It rehydrates really well.

Thanks for sharing! Have you ever replaced the milk powder with whey protein? I may go try that as I have all the other ingredients....
