cHere is the story... As I set perched 11,300 feet above the city I realized what had just happened. I watch the bigger Billy try to bed down, he was hit. Not a good hit but it would kill him eventually. I wasn't happy with my shot as I review the flight of that arrow over and over in my mind... So here I am perched on a rock slide watching my goat of a life time. It was 10 am on Friday. I put out phone calls to three friends to come help the next day. Asking friends to hike 20 miles round trip and wake up at 3 am to do it all is a big favor. I set with my goat for 8 hours til the sunset, I was going to have to sleep on the mountain. It was a long long night, very little sleep I was 300 yards from a trophy of a life time. I woke before sunrise looking and looking for the Billy. Finally there was enough light and I spotted him. He never moved, still in his bed in the same spot. I thought he had expired when all of the sudden he moved his head. While I was thinking of a plan of attack, my buddy showed up after his 10 mile hike. After talking with my dedicated friend we decide I had no choice but to close in on the goat. I slipped in on him while my buddy hung back and watched. I worried that I might push him or he would jump off a cliff the suspense was high. I slipped into a comfortable shooting range and set up for the shot the goat was on his feet. I sent an arrow off, it zipped through him and it crashed into the rocks behind him. He just hunkered in and took the hit. I climbed a little closer and sent in another arrow this one struck him in right near the front shoulder. He jumped up, went down a cliff and headed to another bed. As he raced through the cliff band I could hear the arrow dragging across the rocks until he broke it off. I was really worried now, one bad step and he is rolling down the slide going over the cliffs. The old Billy staggered into a bed. He was wobbling ended up laying down.He started to lean over and was going to fall out of he bed. Then at the last second he caught himself and trough his head to stop him self from falling off the cliff. He was done. After some celebration I got my hands on this goat and I realized what I had. My other two friends showed up we caped him and boned the meat. They hauled meat and my camp, I took the cape. I figure I had 80# in my pack and we had to go through two canyons of cliffs and shell. I have never worked so hard in my life. When we hit the main trail I almost kissed it. I can do 10 miles with a load, just give me a trail. I could never pulled this off without the help of my friends and family. This was a hunt of a lifetime. He is bigger then I thought he is a monster. 9 11/16 inch horns with great mass. He green scores 49 2/8. Hunt of a lifetime!!!!
