Cool one this past weekend. Wettest conditions I've ever killed one in with the throwback gat.




Also the wildest blood "trail" I've seen in a while. My dude dropped where he was standing and the scene on the exit wound side was pretty spectacular. Only kinda visible in the pic, but there was actual pulmonary tissue broadcast across several small saplings he was standing in front of. Barnes T-EZs are no joke

Couple from last few days with a tc triumph 100gr triple 7 and and Hornady fpb 300gr. Really liking that bullet but of course discontinued

I like the tape over the breech, hadn’t really thought of that

Between that and a piece of wax paper rubber banded over the muzzle, it's as water resistant a system as you can get for blackpowder hunting. That thing spent ten hours in the pictured conditions of constant, moderate rain and high humidity, and went off fine when it mattered.

I've had a bunch of other higher end rifles, but my CVAs end up doing the hunting these days. The design is just too simple and effective.

I always use the finger or thumb of a thick nitrile glove and then put chapstick around the glove edge. It works really well.

300gr Hornady SSTs
150gr of 777 pellets
CCI 209 Magnum primers
No clue on velocity

Shot 4 times & hit him 3.
First was 168 yards down hill quartering away, bullet went in back 1/3rd of rib cage on left side and traveled through stopping at the right side arm pit.
Second shot the bull had turned and walked towards me through the oak brush stopping at what I’m guessing was about 100yds broadside where I shot again at his left side and that bullet stopped in his right scapula. He was still standing! My 3rd missed thanks to nerves and adrenaline and my 4th shot I put in his neck that dropped him.
