Looking to get a muzzleloader for hunting the heritage season in Montana for elk. I know you are kinda limited when it comes to how modern the gun can be. Anybody have any recommendations for a company to go through to purchase one and what caliber is best for elk. Thanks

It has to be .50 cal I think, .45 ok for smaller game. Sorry, I don't know about Montana but I really enjoyed my deer and Elk Muzzy hunts this year. I'm sure you will find something very accurate whatever the rules are. The local Sporting goods store will probably have all that you need.

weather resistant...

T/C, CVA, traditions , kibler all make more traditional looking guns.
Traditional season requires a side lock cap/flint ignition.

I believe. 50 cal minimum for elk/moose still.
