I’m awaiting approval on my first suppressor after submitting my paperwork last night, I purchased a DD Enticer L-Ti that I plan to primarily use on my .300WSM but I also want to use on my other rifles at the range, including my 5.56, which would require a 1/2x28 to 5/8x24 adapter to be used.

My question is, what are everyone’s opinions on muzzle thread adapters, and does brand matter? Is the 2 pack for $12 on Amazon going to be just as fine as the $35 one on Silencer Shop? Thank you in advance

Brand name doesn’t matter, but quality does matter. I have had issues with poor-quality adapters causing tolerance issues resulting in baffle strikes. I recommend getting the adapter from the same manufacturer that sells you the suppressor. That way, if something is wrong, it’s their fault no matter what (assuming factory threads on rifle).

In the alternative, you can buy the cheap one and buy a guide rod to check that things are good (always a good idea anyway). I got guide rods off E-Bay for each caliber.

Edit - also look into whether you can get a second direct thread hub. That’s a better option than an adapter. I did that for the Scythe.

Thank you, for both replies! I’ll look and see what DD offers for it, if they don’t have anything then I’ll go with the one offered through Silencer Shop and regardless get some caliber specific rods on the way to check them. I appreciate the feedback thank you

I would use the Unknown Suppressors 1/2-28 adapter with the tool. I have had adapters come off and if there is not some type of removal tool or a shoulder for a wrench getting them back off can be a pain or you end up buying a new end cap, which may or may not be a pain.

If it is a HUB can I’d recommend the Area 419 system. Can swap between rifles as the suppressor mounts to the OD of the adapter on the rifle. Can also run multiple types if you buy more suppressors. I have nearly everything HUB and one TBAC CB, but they all fit the A419 sidewinder universal adapter.

I got these on a couple of my 1/2” threaded guns.

I don't believe Stainless is the best choice in this application.

Stainless steel is tricky stuff to machine, especially in fine close tolerance threads like this. Usually to make it machinable, you have to compromise the alloy content, which takes away from its toughness. Then there's the galling aspect that stainless is prone to do.

I checked their website - it says 'High quality stainless'. Not impressed.

For long term toughness, wearability and quality, the best choice is high carbon steel, hardened in a vacuum furnace. It will cost double, but you get what you pay for.

Thank you everyone for the replies! I should have checked DD website before making this post, but I am ultra newb with the world of suppressors. I signed up for the notifications to find out when they have more of the direct thread caps in stock for 1/2x28, hopefully it doesn’t take long!

Yes, I never checked DD to see if they actually offered it. @bricketts, this is your best option.

DD is currently sold out of 1/2x28, but some other websites appear to have them. Would you trust buying through anyone other than Silencer Shop or the suppressor manufacturer for a part like this, in your experience? Are there many knock off or scam sites in this particular market?

Suit yourself, they are working fine for me.

You want to swap threaded ends back and forth at the range? That is what you stated your need as. Seems far more prone to messing up the fine threads on the titanium can itself going back and forth.

If you plan to leave it on a given gun for a while that’s a different story.

If they are direct thread fittings that work on that suppressor, I would be comfortable getting it from any named manufacturer. The odds of having a stacking tolerance issue from barrel to direct thread is lower than barrel to adapter to direct thread. Not sure I would risk it on some generic thing from Amazon.

I think that’s a valid point worth considering. That probably pushes me back to the “get a quality adapter” camp.
