Muzzle Brake for Howa Superlite .308

Was curious to see if you got a break for your 308 superlite and to how the recoil was. I'll probably be getting one but sort of torn between that or a 6.5 or 243
I actually never found one. Recoil on the 308 is manageable. I wanted the brake more so that i could track impacts and tame muzzle jump rather than just to reduce the actual felt recoil. The gun is ridiculously light so without a brake you’re probably better off with something smaller than a .308

Same here. 3 shot group no cool down the third always pulls the group. Let it cool between shots and it’ll group -moa
Ended up going with the 308 superlite, 20 inch barrel version. Got a Oregunsmithing muzzle brake, curious to try that out. Probably will try it out tomorrow. Anyone do Howas break in procedure?

I am biased and think “break-in” is snake oil but none done for mine but it shoots well if you go into it with the “third shot will be a flyer if I don’t cool” mindset 😉

I followed the break in. I have 16”.

As stated above. Third will be flyer unless the barrel cools between shots. It’s a hunt rifle. Not a target gun. Keep that in mind and it’s a solid little platform.

Thanks, it was all over place the first time out but things started to tighten up after the 12th or so round. Im talking a 6 inch group at 25 yards for my first 12 shots, then about an inch group for 8 of them. My ammo was crap but that was still wild. Going to check the action screws, make sure everything is set there. Scope mounts are fine and scope was not moving. Other than that, recoil and sound was much more manageable than anticipated. The muzzle brake makes this thing kick less than my nearly 8 pound ruger american, could let it free recoil, and almost felt more quiet than the ruger too. Not sure how that works. Guess I'm not standing to the side of it either. Think it's going to be a good rifle eventually, was expecting some quirks with this thing. Should be an interesting process. I'm right at 6 lbs with scope and everything. My shotgun is 7.1 lbs, and while that's not bad, when comparing the two that pound saved is very noticeable.
