I keep bouncing back and forth between these two.
Use will be two guys, fir spring bear mostly, so water tightness is important, and some early season fall hunts, mid October would most likely be the latest.

I've never used a Hubba Hubba, so can't compare. But, I think you'll be happier with Copper Spur HV UL3 for 2 and hunting gear.

Been using a buddy's 2 person for two. it's tight, but so are the places we're camping. Will be staying with a 2 man.

I’m also tossing up between these two tents (although it’ll just be me, and sometimes the dog) so looking forward to hearing feedback from anyone who has used either.

I’m too lazy to check, but I’m pretty sure the MSR has a better waterproofness rating for the material, and the material is heavier and more durable. That durability costs you about 16oz however. I also seem to recall the CS coming in just under 3lbs and the Hubba Hubba coming in at just under 4. I’ve got an old Hubba Hubba and it has performed well for me. The MSR vestibules are just big enough to store a pack on its side. Agree with the other post - if I was primarily buying a shelter for 2 dudes and gear, I’d go with a three man tent.

Like my MSR Hubba Hubba (as well as my one man Hubba). Vertical end walls where your feet have room on top of the pad, nice dual side entries and vestibules, excellent pole structures, waterproofing etc. MSR builds an excellent tent, better than BA in my experience with the BA FlyCreek 1....which was a horrible tent in the wind...would blow flat, terrible design to get in and out of in the rain, sloped foot section that did not fit size 13 feet on top of a Neoair. Etc

Just got the 3 person version of the BA and really like it. Only a couple nights in it so far (the last 2 nights actually). Good for me and 2 kids. Super simple to set up (kids do it 100%). Light. Seems well designed and built.

Ive had a copper spur ul2 for 4 years and its still holding up. I spend 30+ nights in it each summer/fall in the highcountry scouting and hunting. I have the mntnglow version and really enjoy that feature... I've been in it with snow, rain etc and never had a problem. Heavy snow you just need to knock it off occasionally. That being said..i wouldn't want to spend time in it with 2 full grown men. Id highly suggest the 3.

Have the msr hubba hubba nx2. Only used it one night but seems durable well thought out and easy to put up. Plenty of room for me, gear and dog.

I have the MSR Hubba Nx2, been running it for about 3 seasons. If weight isn’t a huge concern, it is absolutely they way to go. Has a ton of room for one man and can do 2 fairly comfortable, the 2 vestibule/exits makes sure everyone has a place for their gear and a entry/exit. I have had it in some crazy storms and water has never gotten in. Also stood up to some 45-50 mph winds with 65mph gusts simply staked down with rocks over anchor points, no guy lines. Bad part is tent/poles/fly/footprint and stakes comes in right at 5lbs on my scale.

Not really sure...i put new batteries in beginning of this summer.. haven't had to change them out once and have 15+ nights in it so far. I don't spend hours with it on but definitely use it every night and morning

How many nights do you find you’ll get out of a set of batteries? Obviously it would depend on individual usage, but I’m curious about real world experience.

Thanks - that sounds promising. I was hoping they would last at least a week or so, so they would last an entire trip, and it sounds like they’ll last that easily.

I use a hubba hubba nx for just myself and gear. I bought it for the vertical walls because I'm 6'7". I'm glad I did, I fit great. My brother and I are too big to try to fit in there together, but I love it for just me and I wouldn't hesitate to use it with the girlfriend. The vents are too low in my opinion, so you get some condensation inside but it's definitely not a deal breaker. Tons of guy out points and I can get it crazy stable in the wind.

That’s odd as the MSR website says 3 lbs 14oz.
What!? A gear company advertising below actual weight? Crazy.... I’m kidding, but that is a pretty common practice, especially with tents, sleeping bags, and guns.

Mines right at 5lbs. If you look on their website under specs, they have standard weight at 4lbs 2oz, add 7-8 oz footprint, getting real close to 5lbs based on their printed specs.

This season was my 4th season on my hh nx, roughly 50-60 mountain nights in it. Tent, poles, fly, pegs and foot print come to 4lb 10oz on my fish scale. I picked up the gear shed this season, for myself my gal and my dog, it was a great addition for my dog and gear. (Never did weigh the shed).

Unfortunately, this season my fly suffered tears, on 3 separate occasions. Once it started to tear, there was almost no stopping it (thank god for T tape). Every time setting it up or taking it down after, I had to be super carful, so not to re start those tears.

Can’t say I’m to impressed with only getting 4 years out of the fly, but I suppose, I did get some good use out of it. Other then the fly, the tent did its job flawlessly.
