Moving to spearfish sd

If I could convince my wife to uproot and move I’d be somewhere in western South Dakota in a heartbeat, and I currently live in Idaho. I have been to South Dakota twice to hunt big game the last 3 years, and I think the people in South Dakota may be collectively the nicest people I’ve ever met. I had a rancher come to me at my camp and offer to let me hunt antelope on his place, where else do people do that. Ran into some guys from spearfish this last year out mule deer hunting, I sorta kinda accidentally shot a buck out from underneath the guy, not directly but he had spotted it, but instead of being upset about it he was congratulatory and I pointed him down the canyon to where I had seen another buck headed, he went down there and shot a better buck than mine then we shared drinks on the tailgate after getting our bucks out. From what I’ve seen of South Dakota as a nonresident I think the opportunities for outdoor pursuits are near limitless there unless you are into elk. Good luck with the move and have fun

Deerfield Res and Keyhole are good places to recreate

Get yourself a snowmobile and ride all the trails during the winter

Spearfish has some of the best fly fishing in the hills. Right in town and all thru the canyon are awesome. As far as hunting you’re in the foothills so you can hit the prairie and the hills pretty easy. North of spearfish is some of the coolest country I’ve ever experienced. Wish I could spend more time up that way.
