I need some help before I take my rifle back to the gun smith. I have a Manners EH1-TK stock that the Mountain Tac bottom metal was bedded into it. The bottom metal sits flush with the bottom and looks great. Only problem is that this set up in 300 WSM will not cycle the rounds. I thought it was a mag issue and Mountain Tac sent me a new mag with a red follower. Didnt help. Those that have a similar set up, can you tell me if the bottom metal needs to be recessed into the bottom or do I scrap this and get a bottom metal with AI mags so I can adjust the mags?

Post pictures. As in not working what is happening. Is the bolt not even grabbing the next round? Is the round not feeding correctly from the mag?

I made three dummy rounds (for safety reasons). I tried again and if I press the front of the mag it will chamber all three rounds. Looks like the round is getting caught on the feed ramp. The bottom metal is no flush to the bottom on the stock. Looks like if I take it back to the smith and he mills some material out of the front it will cycle good. Looks like I figured out the problem. Hes a really good gun smith and will take care of me. I wish I had some dummy rounds for him when he built it to test it all out.

Take a picture with an empty mag inserted through the ejection port. The front of the mag should be tight to the action preferably. Tighter is better on this.

In regards to the bottom metal, mine have a knotch in the mag catch, this allows 2 clicks. Sounds like yours dosnt seat deep enough.

Another option is a new mag catch, you can call mountain tactical and we if they have any longer mag catches.

Is it possible too much bedding compound causes more of a gap than before?

Deeper inlet would also do it.

I reached out to MT to see if they have any longer catches. If not Ill just take it back to my smith and have him mill out some bedding compound until its right. The good thing is this is an easy fix.
