Moultrie Mobile Edge2 Pro Thread/Pre Review - Optimizing Time Afield

So far really not impressed. I bought it for the feature to only take pics of bucks and people only. I have it set for bucks and I get all pics of does in the area. Battery life is terrible. I have it set up on a feeder and I may get 20-30 pics a day and the batteries lasted a week. Also I have a very strong cell signal on my phone but the camera is showing a weak signal.
call CS asap. Have them take a look at the cam.

when I set mine (i have multiples of all the Edge Gens), to only send bucks, I still get a few does. but it does cut way back on pics sent.

I've had two cams in the field for 11 months on Alkaline and I'm still above 50% on battary. veryfew pics from Dec -May because no deer there but still got random weeds blowing, birds wind, so operational the whole time. Hundreds of pics over that time so you've got something wrong. They'll help you if you call. Maybe even warranty a bad cam.

I think somethings wrong with yours, Let us know.

I got three cameras out this weekend. I have some does so far, which is good as this is a late buck spot. One thing I realized when setting them is that I didn't have cell phone reception (Verizon) so I couldn't open the Moultrie app to do the "live aim". Once I got back in service I checked and the cameras have "fair" signal.

All right, Brock! Can’t wait to see what you see. And the way I understand it, live aim does not operate on cell signal. It’s your Bluetooth. You have to make sure it’s on.

I agree, however, I couldn't get past the login screen on the app without service.

I am taking one with me to Wyoming in two weeks for an elk hunt just in case...

Curious if you think the new Edge 3 Pro will be worth getting over the Edge Pro 2, don’t see any huge difference in the specs. Really other than Moultrie connect which I won’t personally use and a better camera. What do you think? I have the Edge 2s and like them but thinking about picking up the 2 or 3 pros

(This is how you know I’m not just a gear pimper)

Have to agree on your question, I have the edge pro2 out right now, it’s been in the field for over 11 months without a battery change, …doesn’t send very many pictures, just like it should.

I have an edge 3 (not pro) out for the last few weeks And it seems to be pretty much the same
performance—the only upside is if it detects a buck, it switches to video. HOWEVER , it’s not working! It’s just sending pics of bucks, not video!

I’ve been on with Customer Service twice and they can’t get it working without me revisiting the camera which isn’t going to happen (think 10 miles in…)

Everything else is great, but that was really the only advantage, so yeah man, I think you’re fine to stay with the pro2’s for now

My Edge 2s were finicky at first as well. Was having trouble getting them to connect. Customer service was very willing to help me problem solve, but when they told me to go outside and see if it would connect better, they were shocked when I told them I’d been outside the whole time, in a corn field, literally no obstructions. Interestingly they told me to switch my batteries from Duracell to Energizer, they seemed to have some weird problems solved by using Energizers specifically. Ironically I’ve had that camera back out and running fine ever since.

Actually Bass Pro is running $40 off the new Edge Pro 3, so only $20 difference from the Edge 2 pros. I might chance it in case they send an update to fix those issues…thanks for the response sir

@Brock A any more action to report?

I could actually witness the rut pick up with a few of my cams. All the sudden I'm getting either 1) bucks trailing does 2) bucks sniffing the ground like a bird dog and 3) just more buck activity/bucks I hadn't seen before

Yes! I discovered I had a group of about 6-8 does living on the saddle I had my camera set on. I counted 6 - 7 different bucks cruising the game trail looking for love. I was able to go up in there and hunt 1 day in-between other hunts all I saw was a spike and elected to pass him. I am going to spend some more time scouting/hunting this area next year as it turned out to be alot better than I thought it was going to be!

didn't happen unless we see pics lol

Battery life seems to be holding steady. I put lithium’s in them. Currently they are bouncing between 49-51%. They have been up since early September and taking pictures only.

well this is different than what they told me about lithiums.

Mine always show 100%.

Then I had a camera die at 100% (after almost a year in field) and when I called, they said that's the nature of lithiums. The power curve looks like the cliff on the edge of a mesa.

Now I'm not sure what to think

Mine did go straight from 100% to 49-51% after about 3 weeks. There was no in-between and its been there for at least a month. I just checked it as I am typing and it says 100% again? Weird!
