Most Reliable Cell Cam?

I have a couple no glow Browning cams. My FIL and other hunting buddies have mixed bag of red glow, low glow Stealth Cam and Muddy. Whether or not the IR glow spooks or bothers wildlife is speculative. We only use card cameras that get checked periodically, not cell cameras.

1. I am not an expert, but I think there are diminishing returns over $150 for a trail camera.
2. Good batteries might be more important than specific camera brand. If your camera drains your cheap rechargeables in a week or two then you might as well have no camera.

Been running six Spypoints for about 5 years now. I like em.

A year and a half ago I also added a couple Brownings to the stable. Great so far.

anyone have problems with squirrels chewing the cables on their solar/external battery setups? Thinking this probably needs a solution as well...

Thanks. I'm looking at the data plans now. Which one are you using? Seems a little confusing compared to others and doesn't look like that big of savings?

I had a 1GB data plan on one camera then just the basic 25mb $3 plan on my other cameras. So I was paying $24/month for 8750 pictures. The data gets shared between all cameras on your plan. It can take a little while to figure out how much data you “actually” need but it’s easy to bump it up if you’re going to run short.

How/how much is the data plan for the Moultrie? Unfortunately, lack of money has always been a problem for me - so no reconyx - lol

Has anyone tried the Browning defender? My non cell Browning cams have been the best cameras I've ever used...
10$ a cam per month.

Pro tip: I pause my TV subscription during hunting season to make up for the game camera subscription expense. Im never home to watch TV in hunting season.

How would you compare the Brownings to the Spypoints?

I bought the g35(?) Spypoints last year. Absolute trash. Not worth the ‘free’ plans and not reliable at all. Every time I update the settings it just dumps photos of nothing until my allocation is used up. Not motion either.

I ponied up for the Tactacam Solar model. Very reliable so far, and quick to report.

Spypoint went total garbage on the last 2 models. Someone said th we customer service is better now maybe they will trade the flex g36 and the flex s in on a new model that might work guess I call and find out

I’m happy - the transmitted pics give me the info I need. I believe the stored pics are higher res.
Ok thanks. Would be nice if there was a cell cam out there that was nice enough to transmit all pics as high res (with no extra fee) - although it is nice knowing all pics on the card are high res, if needed.

Low res standard with high res on demand is perfect, IMO. Thats what the Brownings give you.

I have several Spypoint link both Verizon and LTE models. They all work and are simple enough.
I found their Cell Link this winter for $20 figured I would try a few. They turn any camera that takes a normal SD card into a cell cam. I tested them out in house windows so they would grab service this winter. No issues.
Hoping to set a few this coming weekend.

I already use the Spypoint app for the 4 Link models, these show up in the app the same way.

I got a suggestion from another member that has worked really well. Aftermarket extended antenna, I climb a tree or use some pegs and if service was questionable that usually pulls enough to transmit pictures.

I also order Lithium batteries that are much much cheaper than Energizer and they have been fantastic for battery life. Voniko

I run a few tactacams. Never had an issue with em. I use the rechargeable lithium batteries they sell as well and they last pretty good. I’ve done their solar panel attachment as well, that didn’t impress me much but it wasn’t getting much direct sun light at that time of year anyhow, so I can’t really give a good impress on that.
