Most recent Garmin chrono software update?

I've used it to get downrange velocity on arrows, to adjust sight tapes. just put it behind a target. Yes you are shooting close to it, within the 5-15" range.
nice, had no idea it could be used that way, thought it had to be next to the muzzle to detect blast to record the shot.
Not that I need to check impact velocity but could be useful to know for sure.

The Garmin doesn't do blast detection (sound, recoil, etc). The 5-15" proximity requirement is just so that they can assume the chronograph position "is" the muzzle.

Anyone proof out a stable firmware update yet?

I never updated to the buggy one but my chrono now bugs me to start the update…

Are we good to go on the latest release?

^^^^ Following. I'd like to know as well. My last outing was terrible. Previously I had zero issues.

Just did the update to v3.32. Patch notes: fix dropping shots error due to addition of down range flash setting

Yeah I didn’t do that first update due to the issues. I needed it Saturday and people said the update was good to go so I went for it. Seems just fine

Quick search shows this,

The Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph's "Downrange Mode" provides a visual alert (flashing screen) when a shot is detected from a unit placed downrange, helping users track shots accurately.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Purpose:
The "Downrange Mode" is designed to help users, especially those shooting at longer distances, visually confirm that the chronograph has detected a shot.
    • When a shot is detected by the chronograph, the screen will flash, indicating that a shot has been recorded.

    • This visual cue is particularly useful when the chronograph is placed further downrange, allowing users to confirm that the shot has been detected without having to constantly monitor the device
Confused here.
How would a person see it flash to confirm it picked up a shot downrange… if the chrono is downrange?
Am I mis-interpreting something?

Mine is still dropping a shot here and there, even after latest updates. Kinda pisses me off, prior to this fiasco, it had maybe dropped 1 or 2 of a thousand.

Honestly I’m not sure, I haven’t tried it myself, I have done the update and have had zero issues with dropped shots but I haven’t tried the downrange mode

This has me curious about using a second Garmin Chrono staged behind a barrier down range near the flight path to check velocities and confirm BC. Has anyone done this?

Shouldn't really be needed, since the Garmin already measures downrange velocity directly. Though it would be great if they gave us a way to extract this intermediate data.

Yes. We've used it to true BC with 2 of them. Muzzle and then just in front of a target behind a cinder block.

I've not read anything that shows they're measuring out at say 500y. Or even 100.

Yeah, the garmin gives muzzle velocity only. Idk if you download the data to computer maybe it gives downrange info.

I put a lot of rounds down range today, and I'm pretty certain my garmin was 100%. I did put the chrono exactly within guidelines. I used to be able to put it wherever prior.

In general, that is how doppler chronographs work. These devices measure a sample of downrange velocities and extrapolate back to the muzzle. Obviously the sensor has a range limitation, and I'd guess that 100 yards is probably close to it.

It's more likely 5-25 yards than it is all the way to 100 for only muzzle velocity.
