Most killingest 7mm bullet you’ve used?

Are you still using RL26? What’s the next best thing?

Have always used RL23 (never 26 in my SAUM). Played with N560 and it showed some promise. H4831SC should be a good choice as well.

Broken record here but I'm going to say the 180 hybrid.

IMO, they really shine in the 7RM and below as they don't need extreme speed to perform at 1k and under.

A MV of 2800 FPS at 8000 ASL gets you to 1k at 1900 FPS. I use the 8k ASL as an average for Mulies and Elk.

What have you found to be sufficient impact velocity?

I’ve shot the 140 ttsx, 160 AB, 168 VLDH all from my 7RM. I really like all three and have been very pleased with the results.

The last three animals have been with the 168 MV 2998 fps, two elk and a deer. The elk was a bull around 110 yards and a cow around 180. The deer was 358 all had exits and none of them went 20 yards after impact. Holes are small apple sized, blood shot is about as expected.

The 140 ttsx was around 3100 MV and has taken a few antelope between 2-300 yards. All boom flops and I really like the performance on game.

The 160 AB was three bulls all sub 100 yards in the timber. I don’t remember velocity of the load it’s been quite a few years now

Yes, short action 7SAUM with SAAMI chamber. No issues running them at/under mag length. They are ~2770 MV out of a shorty 18" barrel.

Alex Wheeler put a 284win pipe on my gun and we were talking about the 7saum. He said people get hung up on a bullet being stuck down in the case but it works just fine. That's great performance you are getting from a short action with an 18" pipe. I can't imagine wanting much more after all your success.

I’ve killed big game with 195 EOL, 180 Hybrid, 180 VLD-H, 180 ELDM and 169 Hammer Hunter. They all performed as designed or intended.

Curious what others have used with the most success and maybe even just what else is out there that I potentially don’t even know about.

The spree you went on with that 7/300ni has me rethinking guns set up for the 180eldm. I admit I didn't think that bullet would hold up at those speeds but it sure did!

Moose 60 yards 140 etip

They all worked as they should. Fired from 7mm08, 280ai and 7mm mag.

I’m currently testing the 6.5mm 156 Berger and it’s off to a great start as well!
