Been really liking the 7mm lately. Shooting the big bullets fast and they’re pretty tough to beat ballistically.

I’ve killed big game with 195 EOL, 180 Hybrid, 180 VLD-H, 180 ELDM and 169 Hammer Hunter. They all performed as designed or intended.

Curious what others have used with the most success and maybe even just what else is out there that I potentially don’t even know about.

Over the years I've seen more elk fall to 140 and 160gr accubonds than anything. But they are old and boring now. Last few have been eld-x and 165 sierra tgk. Been quite pleased with the sierra tgk actually, so far it has held together better than other cup & core bullets I have tried.
I bought some 180 eld-m to try this year but never got around to working up a load, maybe next season.

Killed around 15-16 animals (deer, elk, moose, antelope, bear) with a 150 scenar out of the 7 rem mag. Furthest was 623 in a 5 point bull…Scenars are bone crushers…

My next project will be an 8 twist 7 mag of some flavor to shoot 180 scenars

175 ELDX 👍🏻

Hard to give up the bc from 180 ELDM, but 175 ELDX have killed well for me.
That’s a bullet I wouldn’t mind trying for sure. Looks like it’d make a nice sound channel by design. It’s actually longer than the 180 ELDM.

I’ve never looked into the scenars at all actually. Appreciate the info! I’ll have to check them out.

175 elite hunters at 3040fps, 37 head big game, last week a bull at 705yds, over 100 coyotes, longest elk 961, closest 190yds,
not one animal has made more then a few steps from impact

I’ve only had experience with the 7mm08 and whitetail. I’ve had go luck with the hornady 139gr interlock and the Barnes 120gr ttsx.

Since you didn't specify cartridge or game. This is what I have to offer.

180 hybrids have been devastating on deer out of my 7 saum. I’m always open minded to different bullets but so far the 180’s have got me sold. I’ve got 1 black bear with them and the results were odd, so I’d like to get another one with them and confirm what I’m seeing on deer.

I’ve heard countless reports of 180 hybrid success stories. My personal friend has over 50 big game kills with them, and zero hiccups. Definitely seems an outstanding 7mm killing bullet.

Broken record here but I'm going to say the 180 hybrid.

IMO, they really shine in the 7RM and below as they don't need extreme speed to perform at 1k and under.

A MV of 2800 FPS at 8000 ASL gets you to 1k at 1900 FPS. I use the 8k ASL as an average for Mulies and Elk.

168gr LRX
168gr VLD

The VLD meat damage was insane compared to the LRX.

The VLD on a bull elk at 450 yards lost and entire shoulder, all the rib meat, and the inside of the other shoulder. On a mule deer buck at 300 yards left a baseball size exit hole, and lost both shoulders, rib meat, neck meat and back strap...

The LRX has killed everything its hit. Its also nice to be able to take any angle shot and know the bullet will get to the vitals. On elk I put it right on the shoulder and it really anchors them, and on smaller game I go for double lung shots with no issues thus far.

In my 280 Remington it was 140 gr. Partitions. It killed lots of game, deer, antelope, and elk. I ended up selling it as I really wanted a Model 70 with controlled round feed. I had a 280AI built on a Model 70 Classic Sporter.

In my 280AI all I have used so far is 140 gr. Partitions and 140 gr. Accubonds. I've taken deer, antelope, elk, and grizzly bear with it.

Drama free 160 Accubond or Partition. If Nosler would have simply added a boat tail to the Partition I’d still be shooting them. They lack any drama - simply kill things with boring regularity up close or far away with a predictable moderate-size hole.

Many of the guys that swear up and down about the importance of reliability in the very next breath seem to be flip flopping on bullets, or comparing autopsy photos to convince each other of some form of drama. When my serious trophy hunting friends are together we have never felt the need to talk much about bullets for our main big game rifles. Lol
