Most Durable Lightweight Rifle

I have a stainless T3 lite that has taken an absolute beating here in WA. The plastic stock is cheap feeling but holy cow is it tough.

I've banged it around on rocks, trees, ice, etc and it just has a few scuffs.

I keep it strapped to my pack while hiking off trail frequently and was leery about torquing the scope/rings.

That rifle shoots .3-.4 MOA all freaking day.

For a rifle you fully intend on beating the piss out of but still want a shooter, I don't see why you'd look elsewhere.

What caliber T3 lite are you shooting? I think this is going to be my next rifle and Im pretty stuck on 300wm.

I shoot a 30-06.

I'm pretty recoil sensitive and wouldn't want anything larger in that rifle without a brake. Even with a limbsaver, I definitely know when I pull the trigger lol

Doubt there's a tougher rifle out there than an early boat paddle Ruger. And that includes the Plastikka. mtmuley

Or a harder kicking one! I like those rifles, but in magnums they are about as brutal as anything I've shot. I zeroed a 338 for a buddy in college and I never shot anything that hit harder. Darn good rifles though.

I'd have to look at the Brownings as was mentioned earlier. I like either a 3 position or tang safety which takes out the Barret and Tikka for me. Great rifles, I just like the other safety designs. I had a Colt Light Rifle in 7mm Rem Mag that was a great shooter but when carrying the rifle slung over my left shoulder the safety was rubbed into the fire position against my pack. It just hasn't been an issue with the other safety designs.
I had a Browning A bolt in 270WSM with a Bell & Carlson Alaskan stock that was a really nice rifle. Eventually I replaced it as my mountain gun with a custom Rifles Inc 300 win mag built off their LW 70 package with some modifications. I like that rifle very much as well. With a 3-12x Huskemaw, sling, and 4 rounds of ammo it's 8lbs 2oz. It seems just heavy enough to shoot well in the magnum while being easy to carry.

I have been happy with my Kimber Mountain Ascent .308.

I haven't taken it out yet but I just picked up a Rem 700 mountain with an B&C stock in 270 win. Just a bit over 6lbs and seems tough.

I really like those rifles, big competator for my next gun but Ive heard about lots of stiff triggers on them. You should do a write up after you get to shoot yours.

yeah had a tikka t3 lite in 300 win and that kicked WAY harder than my 340 wby and 7stw, surely because it was lighter. you don't feel it in the field but holy crap at the bench when sighting in and selecting ammo.

Maybe strap your rifle with the bolt/safety side facing your pack to eliminate anything hitting them.
