Looking for recommendations on stock rifles undet $1000,. I'm not a huge fan of Tikka stocks so just exploring other options... Bergara B 14 is up there if anyone has experience with them?

Weatherby Vanguards are accurate rifles from my experience. They were one of the first I recall offering an MOA guarantee, way back when.

Love my two Savage 110s (30-06 and 25-06) with maybe a dozen critters on the latter (antelope and deer) and couple on the former. I have maybe 20 long guns varying in price and these two are work horses - with Leupold scopes too 🤫.

I don’t think Savage is rich enough for Rokslide blood though, so be careful with who you tell if you decide to slum around with my likes 🤣!

Another vote for Savage.

I have a model 16 7mm WSM with accutrigger, aftermarket stock and it shoots touching holes and 200 yards. Total invested (minus scope) is around $700-$750 (forget exact price of stock).

I have a model 110 with accustock and accutrigger and it shoots the same. I picked this one up for $680.

Everything I shoot is factory ammo - find the loads they like and stick with them.

These guns are shooters!!

I think a lot of production rifles shoot pretty damn good now days...

I have had Remingtons, Savage, Tikka, Weatherby, Howa rifles that all shoot amazingly well.

Savage Is definitely worth a look. Never seen one that didn’t shoot. The weather warrior and the 114 come with better stocks and all metal parts....no plastic.

Im a Savage guy also. I've got a 270 WSM model 16 that is an absolute laser gun. It'll shoot 3 shot goups at 100yds damn near in a single hole. I also have a 6.5CM model 10 LightWeight Hunter. I put that one in a Boyds laminate stock, and its incredibly accurate as well. I dont have anywhere near 1000 dollars in either. Ive taken alot of game with the 270, and my son just shot his first elk with the 6.5.

Go to your local gun shop and handle everyone that you can and pick the one that fits you the best. As has been said, most rifles today are going to get you right around MOA.

If stocks are important to you a used Kimber Montana would be your best. A new one will be slightly more than 1k. I like the Christensen stocks too so you might be able to get a Mesa for around 1k too.

It's definitely tougher to find one that won't shoot than one that will. I've had particularly good success with Howa/Vanguard rifles in that regard.

I have a Bergara and plan on buying another. I wanted to like the Tikka cause it weighs less but when I shoulder them both I much prefer the feel of the Bergara. You can obviously update the stock on any production rifle but for the price the Bergaras come setup really well.

Savage used to be budget, doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. I’ve got one, good shooter for sure. The most impressed I’ve been with a budget rig is the Ruger American in pure terms of accuracy.
