I've never had an issue with mosquitos until this summer. Now, any time I get a bite it turns into a nickel sized welt and burns/itches to the point its absolutely miserable. Very comparable to my worst run ins with poison ivy/stinging nettle.

Obviously, doing what I can to prevent them - but I need an option for the ones that get through. I've tried after bite, hydro cortisone cream, and calamine to no effect.

I recently applied apple cider vinegar with a Q-tip. It helped. It would be worth a try. Probably not as effective as real medication.

NO scratching/rubbing. Cool compresses. Benadryl (sedating). Hydrocortisone cream or better yet prescription strength steroid if you have some. Oral steroids are reserved for more extreme cases.
Prevention with a good mosquito repellant moving forward.

Currently dealing with 250+ chigger bites afree a brush clearing weekend and found that antihistamines help. Benadryl, Allegra, etc.

For home treatment, Witch Hazel seems to work pretty well. I so also make sure my FAK is stocked with sting relief pads at the beginning of each summer for when out in the field. In addition to mosquito bites, I've kicked up yellow jacket nests a few times and these have been clutch.

I've entertained over 70 at once, with 250 I'd be considering euthanasia...
I’m not exactly having a good time but the antihistamines seem to be doing some pretty heavy lifting. Usually it’s like 10-15 max. Jeff Bezos hooked me up with some same day sawyer permethrin and picardin. A little late but I don’t plan on becoming a repeat offender.

Can you share which ones you've found that work? I definitely need something to keep in the truck.

I’d be looking at antihistamines (Zyrtec, Allegra, etc). Benadryl would be better at night as it’s a more sedating antihistamine.

Regular use of cortisone-10 as needed as well.

That’s legit misery man

Go somewhere that has a shit ton of mosquitoes and get eaten alive. You won’t notice itchy welps or anything like that for a long time afterwards.

@White Falcon posted about arm & hammer deodorant for insect bites in the cheap stuff that works thread. My youngest son has skeeter syndrome and welts up really bad from mosquito bites. So I tried my unscented arm & hammer deodorant on his mosquito bites, and it works great.
