I was all set to grab a Mora Eldris as a light weight skinner to go along with my victorinox paring knife, but then I saw the Mora Amberg compact. It has a full size handle and a short 3 inch blade.

For those who have used the Eldris would a larger handle and longer blade have any advantages?

The sheath of the Eldris pops onto the handle to give you a little more length to grip, however, in practrice I find this unstable and impractical. I haven't tried to use mine to skin anything, and really probably wouldn't.

The Victorinox paring knives on the other hand, do a fine job skinning.

I never skinned anything while I had my Eldris. I didn’t keep it long. Reminded me too much of an oyster shucking knife. Did not care for the two different grinds on the blade. Check the specs on the Amberg—the website I checked said blade was 4.25 inches.

I like a different edge profile for skinning.

It does remind me of an oyster knife. The Amberg has a bunch of different styles. I was primarily interested in the compact model.
