Moose Shed Terrain

I'm not a big shed hunter per say but living in CO and seeing some good bulls roaming around I would love to stumble on a big paddle one of these days. What is the typical terrain you find Moose sheds in? I've heard that they winter at pretty high altitudes, are they basically in the same areas year round when it comes to lower 48 Shiras?

I've found them in grass flats around lakes while hunting. Maybe in when they drop them, they've come to find food sources around the lake areas.

Recently started finding some while scouting for elk, found a couple in a boggy meadow, and found one on a ridge line near some food sources and one was literally pure dumb luck, in the middle of dark timber at 10.4k I think it depends on weather. If it’s mild, later like it was last year in the area they will stay as high as they can as long as they can

I found a moose shed today out behind my home on the Wyoming prairie. Never can tell.

I've picked up most of mine in sage. Others in timber, aspens, and clear cuts
