Moose Meat Drag?

I vaguely remember reading a thread in the last couple of years in someone's hunt recap where someone built a sled/drag of some sort to haul meat. Can someone help me out?

There’s no doubt an application and place for it. I just sold mine a couple months ago after taking it to 4 moose camps and never unrolling it. The main uses I could see are if you had a long portage on either end of or during a float. The other use is a back saver, but I’ll repurchase one when that day comes (I’m a shank the quarters guy). I originally purchased it for a solo moose hunt as a backup packing method, which I would still advise in that situation.

It’s a great design and a handy tool for the right guy/situation!

Plenty of videos showing this sled here:

I used a cheap roll up called a Deer Sleigher. It's not as nice as Larry's model but was definitely usable if you narrowed up the front to avoid catching brush. Came with a harness and rope, etc. I bought mine and had it shipped straight to Alaska. After the hunt, I left it at Papa Bears facility.

I have access to materials to make my own of either type. Was looking for visuals to base it off of. Lightweight being the key. This is a huge help and a great start. Thank you gentlemen.

I used a cheap roll up sled on a solo moose hunt in AK a couple of years ago. Worked great and saved my back some heartache.

If I were doing it on a regular basis I'd definitely get one of Bartlett's sleds

I kind of envision using one of those cheap sleds kids use for sledding. Tough, light and can roll up for packing fairly easy. Adding some grommets for lashing and integrating an old treestand harness. Thoughts?

I have one of LB's sleds.

I've used it for 4-years and 7-moose, and it's still going strong and going into action again this fall. It's very well designed, constructed of strong/durable materials, and pulls really great over the tundra while maintaining its shape. I've humped enough moose loads on my back over the years...pulling that sled is much preferred by me.

Before getting LB's sled, I pulled a couple moose loads with a cheap roll-up sled, and that mostly sucked because no matter how I tied my loads it would always form into a lengthwise rolled shape with a pointed tip that would dig-in/hang-up in the tundra as I pulled it.
