Moose in arctic Norway

Just thought i might tell a bit about moose hunting here as it is a bit different.
I started hunting private land, as my father is a landowner but this is by no means an backcountry experience, the village i grew up in is a vallley with mountains on both sides an a fjord on either end.

Anyway here when you apply for a moose hunt on public you draw a unit with a quota, not tags this ensures that you have the area to yourself, but you have to be minimun 4 guys to apply for a unit, and you will normally get 2-4 moose on the quota.
you are also required by law to have with you or a contract with an certified wounded game search dog (in Case you wound a animal) and the dog and handler have to be able to be in the unit within 4 hours after wounding the animal.

Depending on the terrain we use diffrent hunting methods, spot and stalk, bay up dog, driven hunt etc, we do prefer to glass up the animals first to ensure they match our quota. and we are also allowed to use radio communication when hunting.

Moose is in Norwegian called elg. The dog sure is a Norwegian moose hound.

I also see suppressor use is common. Still a pain to get them here in the U.S. where "there are no gun laws"

Supressors is widely used, and can be bought over the counter. Less recoil and less sound from the shot, whats not to like?
