Hi, I am headed to Alaska for a fly in moose hunt and was curious if anyone with experience could share their opinions on whether or not it is worth it to bring a decoy for September 6-17th dates. Weight is a concern as we are limited to 100 pounds a person, but we could make room if it would increase our chances. Thanks!

In my experience the best thing you can do is get good at calling and knowing the different calls to do in the rut progression. I do always bring a Bull Magnet.

I've never used a decoy. I'm totally convinced that our tents work just fine as visual attractants when we call from camp...

Ok, we've definitely been studying up on calling throughput the rut progression. I appreciate the insight!

I've used on my lake hunts. Of course, we always end up with moose in camp, but don't know if they came to camp due to the calling alone, or if the visual helped. It's not a huge weight penalty to bring one.IMG_1647.JPGIMG_1720.JPG

Beautiful photos! It's that the Montana Moose decoy?
think so. bought it used off ebay years ago. it twists and folds into small circles and carries in a pouch. might way a lb. rather than tote its metal frame, we cut saplings at camp to put it up.
