Current setup is a VTM 34 70 lbs at 30” draw. Arrow is a 29.5 carbon to carbon VAP elite 250 spine. 555 grains total so I think the FOC is around 16% and shooting 269 fps. Am I crazy for wanting to drop some front weight to try and get to the 285ish FPS? I have an option 5 sight and the tapes only go to 280 minimum FPS. If I keep my arrow setup who is the best at making tapes?

Thanks in advance!

That is a hell of an arrow at 269fps. Archers Advantage type programs you can create your own tapes.

So I’m guessing you wouldn’t lower the weigh any to try to minimize the drop in flight at distance?

Probably not for moose, unless you anticipate having to shoot through openings in brush I would leave it alone.

Ultimately I would shoot the more accurate set up, unless you are on the edge of spine dropping 25 grains up front may not give any accuracy advantage.

You would need to drop at least 30 grains up front to gain that speed.

Fixed blade broadheas can get a little tricky over 280 also.

I would keep your current set up. I’ve killed several moose with a bow and most shot opportunities have been close range affairs...25yds or less.
