My son recently moved to Billings so I will be out there on occasion. I hunt coyotes frequently with thermals in Mn but was hoping to see if anyone would be willing to drag me along around Billings sometime. Always fun to meet new people and hunt new parts of the country. Just looking to meet up with folks that share the same interests.

Appreciate the insight and constructive criticism. As I am not from MT maybe you could enlighten me on the proper vernacular and I could amend the post. As you stated, “First of all”, I am anxious to hear what is second.

Generally speaking, a person's level of experience in hunting coyotes can be determined by how he refers to them.

In my experience "generally speaking" of course, a persons level of unbearableness can be determined by how much of a pedant he is. Who knows, maybe the kids and I need to take this cayoteh hunting a little more serious.

I would just go drive around forest land with the window open in the evening to listen for them. I don't believe you need a license unless you use state land. I heard and seen plenty of them elk hunting this past fall.

Look into the regulations and license needed for bobcats too, there's a solid population around there. You'd hate to call one in and not be able to shoot it.
I get the desire to hunt with a local, but just find public land and call, you'll kill some.
Good luck and have fun!
