I believe this is the second year for Montana heritage elk/ deer muzzle loader season. Will try to put as much time as possible into archery/rifle. Has anyone hunted this season ? Crowds, success? What was your experience? ( I do have a qualified muzzleloader)

Made it out one day for it last season hiked a few miles ran into one guy on a 4 wheeler on the way back to the rig. Fired my Kentucky rifle before I headed home first cap didn’t set it off 😂 Plan on hunting it again if I have a tag in my pocket.

Not sure for elk. If I don't kill my bull in the first weeks of September I'm done for the season. But I do plan on trying it for deer. Lots of people seem to be upset about the season. I dunno everyone in Montana has something to complain about. And those who complain the loudest hardly be dealing dirt naps.

People have to have something to complain about! I would assume success and hunter numbers were low, might gain some steam in a few season as people gather rifles and components. I happened to have all the equipment so I took it as another opportunity to get one last hunt to finish my season.
