Email says they know the order in which applicants drew, so no redraw. Biggest fumble is it took 4 days to realize the mistake and 5 to send email.

Every state has made mistakes like this. Arizona did it a few years back.

I have a running joke about people thinking that a tag means a hunt, or an animal.

Other states have pulled tags back as well.

Montana is the only state that is consistent...consistently messing up the draw. Last year it was elk.

They mailed people that didn’t draw tags but their portal and results said unsuccessful I believe. I got one of the spare tags

I'm affected. I've already paid for the tag, we'll see if I'm one of the unlucky ones who gets their tag taken away....

They should just let the extra count as next years draw also and reduce 2024 quotas accordingly…

Unfortunately it is probably a bureaucrat that messed things up again. They'll have a good laugh as they eat their morning donuts and nothing will happen. Our government has no repercussions or responsibility for any mistakes anymore.
I almost choked when I started reading the email last night, as I have a goat permit as a non resident this year. I was so thankful when I realized it wasn't me, but can imagine the heartbreak for those affected.
Heads should roll and someone should be fired.
