I am planning on coming out to hunt NW Montana mid early may for Turkey/Bears, primarily focusing on finding a bear. We are wondering what the typical road conditions are like that time of year in 106? (I have driven all through it in August, but I am sure it will look completely different)

Based on what I have gathered it sounds like the turkey population is really low in 106 as well, so thinking about starting out west of Missoula. Would love to chat about birds in that area if anyone is interested.

Download the 2022 regs…
I feel pretty well versed in them, but maybe I missed something based on your comment?

Also, do you have much knowledge on the typical road system conditions come that time of year?

You might try calling the USFS office in Kalispell and see if they can give you some info on conditions or advise who might know. Worth a try.

I drove up to Bigfork today. I drove up 93 from South of Missoula. There is very little snow left except on the tops of peaks. That being said, it's hard to predict what weather conditions will be like in May. You can look up the climate history of the nearest town. That might help. Still, probably won't hurt to have an alternate plan in case we get more snow.
