Well I decided to modify another stock, this time I cut the stock apart and just kept the centre for the action vs trying to make my own bedding block
I picked up some foam board and laminated it together, started shaping things roughly how I wanted it and once I was happy I used some epoxy to glue everything together.
I didn’t take enough pics but the front section slotted in towards the recoil lug area and on the rear I hollowed out the foam an inch and slid over the rear section of the old stock.
Next I started putting some carbon fibre in a few areas I wanted some extra layers
Next I used some free form air epoxy to shape around the grip and fill any areas needed
Next I started adding layers of carbon fibre, at first I was using peel ply and electrical tape for compression but eventually switched to vacuum bagging, it worked much better.
After all the carbon was laid I put on 3 thin layers of epoxy as a top coat. Gave it a wet sanding then a sponge paint job and added some clear coat. Finally I shaped and glued on a flip flop recoil pad and cut down an old arca rail I had laying around and attached it
I wanted this to be ultra light stock and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, not sure how long it will last but I can always fix or add more layers if need be. This will be going on a .243 I have but I’m waiting on my scope to show up to shoot it, I’ll also be shortening the barrel to 18”. Hopefully I’ll get out in a couple of weeks and see how it does.
