Hello,
I have a Model 7 in 7-08AI. I built this as my idea of a light weight mountain rifle with the highest level of ballistic performance in a non-magnum short action, without cutting any corners.
this was built from a NOS stainless 7 action by Long Rifles, Inc. They did their 'Tier 1' accurizing package and spun up the barrel. Some details include an M16 extractor, fluted bolt, etc. Scope mount holes opened to 8-40, and rear action screw upsized to the usual M700 size.
The barrel is a 22" stainless K&P (LRI'S affiliated barrel maker of choice) in their featherweight or #1 profile.
The stock is a NOS McMillan KS. TO NOTE: I bought it from a gunsmith shop closeout without a box, and their inventory listed it as a KS. it matches visually and weighs the correct amount, but I do not have the build sheet for it so can not say with 100% certainty. Alamo Precision Rifles bedded the stock to the action.
It has a GreTan fire control, and Timney trigger.
A.
The picatinney base is a Talley aluminum.
Please pardon the home-made rear action screw. I cut down and profiled a SHCS screw, because the screw hole was threaded for the larger M700 type rear screw instead of the dinky usual M7 screw.
I'm asking $2100 for the rifle as you see it, less scope and rings. I just am not going to make it out West any time soon, and this is too beautiful of a rifle to sit in the back of the safe or tromp through my brushy Texas cedar thickets where my beater 16" 308 is just more suited to the job.
It weighs 5.7lbs without the scope IIRC. I'll get an exact weight if you like; for sure under 6 lbs. I can email more pics, the LRI build sheet etc for anybody truly interested.
Components: I have 100 pieces of new Alpha Munitions 7-08 Brass, and Redding 7-08AI dies that I will deal on for a full price buyer.
I've included a pic of a ding on the palm swell of the stock from safe rash.
Thank you for looking
I'm in Weatherford, TX and get out to Midland and the Waco area often.
