I’ve had success with them if you put them in an intersection of a deer trail I would use a grape vine scrape the ground up and pee in it myself also will use smokys per orbital scent on locking branch.

Depends on how you use them. If you're only using scrapes for the rut then sure but I keep mine clear and fresh all year and have had great success with scouting. I love seeing fawns being taught to use them in spring, so forth. I also have good success with mock scrapes during the rut too, you just have to be strategic with where you place them especially here in the mountains.I never quite understood mock scrapes.
You’re putting a scrape where the animal wasn’t at in the first place. Imo you’re better off finding real scapes close to bedding or in travel coridors. That’s not to say I won’t freshen a scrape up. Just to say that I’m not sure a deer is going to hit a mock scrape every time. Might be able to get some inventory that way though
