So I have a quick question for you all. I hunt in AZ for trophy coues and then elk for the meat all rifle. Im looking into getting into some alpha glass but was wondering for $4000 is it better to go with nl 14x52s vs the slc 15x56 and a cheaper pair of 10s? I hunt a ton with my tripod I currently have the cheapest set of vortex 15s and I use my maven range finder for quick scans. This has been a system I have really enjoyed. Whats everyones take? 14s really worth $1000 more than slcs?

Also for reference, I literally hike around with my tripod extended and in hand popping it open for scans that are going to last a few mins to a few hours and then when it’s like a quick 10-30 second scan I use my range finder. Thanks all!

If that is a system you like to use and works for you, go with the NLs. Especially with coues as your primary focus. Clarity and FOV being the main reasons.

I just hear so much about 8s and 10s being so incredible. Im curious if I'm missing out on that much

I don’t think nl 14s are going to change the outcome of a hunt compared to SLC 15s. But if you want/need to upgrade glass this would be a top priority IMO.

They are for sure. But the 14s are the best optic I’ve ever looked through factoring in fov, power, and clarity. I think you would be way better off having those and a cheaper chest bino with what you described.

Yeah I have the 12’s but I’m gonna hold off on the 8’s for a good long while, I think a guy could go crazy chasing every perfect optic combo for every situation, archery, rifle, sage, timber, desert, open/ dense. Get what works like 95% of the time and just get experience glassing up game
