We have been trained by marketing. Does not matter that up until the last 30 years or so everybody wore blue jeans and flannels and still killed stuff. I remember in the 60's and 70's sitting on hillsides hunting elk and as it got light I could spot fellow hunters several thousands of yards away on another ridge because they were wearing orange coveralls and an orange hat and sometimes you would occasionally run into some weird dude who was wearing a Vietnam era camo jacket.
I will admit I bit on the camo rage, but I mix and matched and have a closet full of camo. But in the last 5 years or so I have gone to solid color pants in the green and light colors. Still wear my camo coats because they are the warmest coats I have. If you pay attention to your conditions and are not sky lighting yourself and watch your movement clothing is the least of your concerns.
