How many of my fellow Missouri residents are following our battle with the city of Wildwood to stop using an out state company to sharp shoot our deer over bait piles and start using Bowhunters?

I would imagine that the well off type that live there don't really want to care .
Urban bow hunting is a strange endeavor. I shot a few deer along 270 in Spanish lake years ago. It can work out but very situation dependant.

So basically you are saying you have no clue?

It does not make sense to PAY "snipers" to kill the deer when the dept of conservation could create revenue by issuing tags.

I'm assuming they don't want a bunch of wounded deer running around Wildwood with arrows sticking out of them.

This is one of the concerns, but fairly easy to manage. There is a lack of understanding from the city council and residents on the effectiveness of archery equipment, especially in the hands of experienced Bowhunters.

I do get that part. I mean, it would happen. Still. Maybe make bowhunters take a proficiency test prior to the hunt.

Experienced bow hunters are still going to wound more than a professional sharp shooter. If the goal is to cull urban deer with the least disturbance possible, bow hunting isn't it.

I'm not saying that getting a bow season or hunt set up is bad, I'm just saying that bow hunters will wound more animals.

You can shoot much more accurately with a rifle and bullets can incompacitate/kill quicker.

Sounds like the best answer would be to allow locals/residents to do the culling with rifles.

That sucks! I used to live up there, a couple local bowhunting groups used to canvas Chesterfield pretty good. The only thing that got me was they were looking for the big bucks but never harvested does, this is what happens with poor herd management in an area.

MDC has pretty good Urban deer hunting programs in the Kansas City area already. Same thing on the Kansas side in Shawnee Mission park. They are lottery hunts with at least the Kansas side requiring shooting tests to participate.

I have zero desire to hunt deer in an urban area but good examples exist nearby.
