Mississippi River Northern Illinois public land hunting

Does anyone have any experience hunting the state parks along the Mississippi River (Illinois side)? I was talking to a guy who said he hunted those parks pack in the 80s and early 90s and you could only get to them by boat. He said they had tremendous luck and would set up a base camp along th river. I took my family fishing in Savanna IL this year and we tied the boat off on some pretty remote land to have a shore lunch and during my brief walk of the woods i noticed tons of tracks. If anyone has any experience hunting this area please let me now, thinking about giving it a wirl this year.

Are you referring to the Army Depot property? If so, that is closed to hunting. I am pretty familiar with that area and I know the DNR has a list of all the possible public hunting areas on their website. Hopefully this gives you a good starting point

Did you ever try hunting any of the state or federal land over there? I've been looking into it and want to try it myself.
