Saturday morning we had one hell of a storm (few inches of rain and 35mph plus winds). Every duck hunter in the valley (myself included) was taking advantage. Unfortunately, on my way home I saw the search and rescue boats about a mile from my house searching the wildlife area. Turns out a 17-year-old boy flipped his kayak chasing a crip and his 19-year-old brother went in after him. 4 days later, neither has been found. Their dog, kayak and other equipment was found on Saturday early in the day but still no sign of the boys.

Be safe guys, life is short and sometimes as duck hunters, especially when we are young, we think we are invincible.

When I was young and dumb, I tried to float out to the island on an old tire innertube. Luckily I just got lost in the fog and had a bit of a hike back to my truck at the end. It was one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time

I used to hunt the afterbay a long, long time ago. My dad sent me this article yesterday. I can’t imagine what the family is going through.

Sad story. Can't imagine.

The winds were 45+ mph gusts in the Sacramento Valley that morning, watched limbs go down and I know many who lost power.

We hunted Sunday morning and were discussing how we've all dialed back risks as we've gotten older.
